A 200% increase in health care costs with no pay increase… freezing pension plans, involuntary stand-by process… these are just some of the proposals by AT&T to their workers for their new contract. And this is why workers, supporters, and others gathered for a protest and rally on Saturday, September 26th at the AT&T headquarters in Louisville, KY.

Flacozbrain Radio: voices from the streets joined workers and CWA Local 3310 at the event, talked with them about the issues, what this means going forward, and what they hope to get out of the current round of bargaining negotiations. We invite you to listen to what workers and union members have to say, and what this means to all workers.

CWA District 3 represents over 28,000 members in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. The current contract between AT&T and workers in CWA District 3 expired on August 8, 2015. In a new contract, workers are looking for…

  • affordable healthcare costs for current employees, future retirees, and existing retirees,
  • respect and dignity in the workplace,
  • reduction in the use of excessive forced overtime,
  • improvements in workers’ safety on the job,
  • benefits and wages that reward workers’ contributions to AT&T’s success,
  • addition of a paid holiday recognizing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
  • retention of employee security language, and
  • equal treatment and protection for technicians who are responsible for installation and maintenance of AT&T’s television and internet services.

AT&T posted a net profit of $6.5 billion in 2014 with 2nd quarter 2015 revenues topping $33 billion.
