With his first gallery opening later this month in Wathaurong Country, Geelong, we speak with the talented Nyul Nyul Saltwater Man Lowell Hunter. From his early years growing up in Gunditjmara Country in Warrnambool, to now Wathaurong Country, Lowell remembers the ritual of dancing as far back as he can remember.
Taking the form and structure of dancing, Lowell's undeniably strong connection to country and community has allowed him to create beautiful pieces of art using only his feet. Using the Traditional dance movements his people have practiced for countless generations, Lowell uses the same foot movements to create his art which is then photographed with the use of drones to capture the beauty of the land and the patterns.
