Wendy "Wednesday" Martin is an author and cultural critic who writes and comments about parenting, step-parenting, female sexuality, motherhood, and popular culture. She is the author of five books.Martin taught literature and cultural studies at Yale, The New School, and Baruch College.Martin has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, Psychology Today, The Huffington Post, Harper's Bazaar, and The Daily Telegraph.Martin's first book, "Marlene Deitrich," was published in 1995. Her memoir about being a stepmother, called "Stepmonster: A New Look at Why Real Stepmothers Think, Feel and Act the Way We Do," was published in 2009. Her memoir about living in Manhattan's Upper East Side neighborhood "Primates of Park Avenue," was published in 2015. "Untrue," about women and sex, was published in 2018.Martin was raised in Grand Rapids MI. She received her B.A. in anthropology from the University of Michigan, and her Ph.D. in comparative literature and cultural studies from Yale University.
