Jean Kwok is an author.Kwok moved to New York City with her family when she was five years old, and was raised in poverty. After university, she was a competitive ballroom dancer. She quit ballroom dancing to become a full-time writer.Kwok's first book, "Girl in Translation," was published in 2010 and became a best-seller. She has published several more novels, and two textbooks.Kwok received her B.A. in English and American Literature from Harvard University and her M.F.A. in Fiction from Columbia University.
