John Schaefer has hosted New Sounds since 1982. His voice is synonymous with avant-garde and unusual recordings. The performance events he hosted in New York City for decades attracted and featured the greats of contemporary music. Since 2018, the New Sounds program has bounced between WNYC, WQXR, and NYPR.
