Dave Zirin is a political sportswriter. He is known for calling for sports boycotts, of Arizona for its anti-immigration laws, and of Israel for its treatment of Palestinians. He is currently the sports editor for The Nation and writes a blog named Edge of Sports: the weekly sports column by Dave Zirin.Zirin is a contributor to The Nation, and has been a columnist for SLAM Magazine, and The Progressive. He has been a guest on ESPN's Outside The Lines and Democracy Now!.He was the host of the podcast "Edge of Sports Podcast" and co-host of "The Collision: Where Sports and Politics Collide on Pacifica Radio."Zirin's first book, "What’s My Name, Fool? Sports and Resistance in the United States," was published in 2005. He has since published nine more books.Zirin was born in New York City. He graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Arian is an Assistant Professor of History at Georgetown University Qatar, where he specializes in the modern Middle East and the study of Islamic social movements. He is also co-editor of the Critical Currents in Islam page on Jadaliyya.Previously, Al-Arian was a Visiting Fellow at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver.Al-Arian's work has appeared in Foreign Policy, Middle East Eye, MERIP, Muftah, and Al-Jazeera.
