I love so much about this podcast. It’s well-acted, incredibly rich in sound, and set in a world I’d love to explore more. I was hoping to add this one to my list, Evolicious Podcast Fiction right here on Podchaser. But due to two fatal flaws, I cannot. One of the flaws is forgivable: it’s light on exposition, leaving (in my opinion) too much to the imagination, with little more that sounds (rich, immersive sounds) for what seems like minutes on end. I think I kinda know what was happening, but a good deal was lost on me. But again, that might be a preference, and I’ll not begrudge the creator their preferences. The bigger flaws is all too common: much of the dialog is obfuscated by that rich soundscape. Waves crashing let us know we’re on the beach. But having the waves so loud as to require me to activate the noise-canceling feature of my headphones make me wonder if I, the listener, were meant to be laying in the surf as the dialog happened. So yes, it sounds great. I just wish I could have heard all the dialog between characters, as I’m sure it was important.
